Haunted by a melody and tormented by her peers, a tree-planter and aspiring folk singer seeks solace in the wilderness—only to find the land whispering her deepest desires, pulling her into something darker than she ever imagined.

Director Statement

Day 3 explores our exploitative attitudes toward nature and each other while celebrating the struggles and joys of tree planting. It’s an eco-horror that stares into the depths of our industrial wilderness, questioning where this extractive relationship to nature is taking us—and what it's doing to our psyche.

Inspired by my nine seasons of tree planting in the backwoods of British Columbia, this story is deeply personal. The tree-planting community is one I hold close to my heart, and I wanted to create a narrative that both celebrates the culture and confronts its darker side. As a line of work rarely depicted in narrative film, I believe it’s essential that the story be told by an insider.

Tree planting has not only sustained me but also allowed me to pursue my career as a self-taught filmmaker. It feels only right to turn my creative focus back to tree planting—a subject that intersects nature, industry, and interpersonal relationships.
